Hi Lyndsay,
The castle was a dream come true! It was beautifully decorated — room after room — with a gorgeous pool and park. We loved our chef’s dinner, as well as gathering in the “blue room” each evening for aperitifs. We were able to sit outside behind the kitchen with candlelight, though the temps were cooler that week. We also enjoyed the hot tub, pool table, piano, and chessboard. We took your suggestion to visit Puy du Fou, and, as you said, were blown away. We hope to go back, as we didn’t make it to every show. Several people used the gym, a few rode bikes. We visited Chateau de Brissac and tasted white wine in Savennieres. We dined almost every night at the chateau and would walk the grounds to appreciate the lit-up chateau before bed. We were all amazed, looking through the books on the chateau’s refurbishment, at the effort and love poured into the place. Sleeping in the yellow bedroom, I discovered the small portraiture of the house itself painted on the door. The details — the cloth wall hangings, the painted ceilings, the tapestries and framed prints — were exquisite. The sound system allowed us to pipe Edith Piaf or Alain Souchon throughout. In short, it was spectacular.
Best,
Maria Bertrand
